Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Pompano Beach late Sunday night.

The shooting happened just before midnight at the 300 block of Avondale Drive, said Carey Codd, a sheriff’s office spokesman.

When deputies arrived, they found Roderick Henry near the area of 400 Southwest 2nd St. Codd said Pompano Beach Fire Rescue paramedics declared Henry dead at the scene.

The person or people who shot Henry immediately left the area, Codd added.

The sheriff’s office did not disclose Henry’s age, where he lived or any other personal information, citing privacy laws.

BSO Homicide detectives continue to investigate the shooting and are seeking the public’s help in finding the gunman.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information on the shooting to call Detective John McGlynn at (954) 321-4208, or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app.

Those wanting to remain anonymous can call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-8477, or submit a tip to browardcrimestoppers.org, or text to **8477. Tips that lead to an arrest my be eligible for a reward up to $10,000, according to the sheriff’s office.
