A dispute at a Cuban restaurant off Southwest Eighth Street escalated into violence Tuesday night, leaving a man with multiple stab wounds, according to police.

At about 7:40 p.m., Miami-Dade Police officers arrived at Sabor Cubano Cafeteria, 12848 SW Eighth St., following reports of a fight that escalated into a stabbing.

First responders found a 39-year-old man with multiple stab wounds and rushed him to HCA Kendall Florida Hospital where he remains in critical condition, police say.

Police say that the victim had been involved in a verbal altercation with another individual who had been causing a disturbance in the restaurant. The confrontation escalated and the man pulled out a knife, stabbed the victim several times and then fled the scene, police say.
