Two brothers cuffed after attacking a Miami tire shop mechanic, cops say. One was shot

Two brothers are behind bars after police say they assaulted a mechanic Monday at a West Miami tire shop — where a chaotic dispute unfolded that led to the mechanic shooting one of them in the leg.

Pedro Luis Gonzalez, 40, and his brother, Luis Angel Rodriguez-Candano, 32, went to Tire Liquidators Miami II at 2090 SW 67th Ave to confront a mechanic about work previously done on Gonzalez’s car.

Things escalated when the brothers followed the mechanic into the tire shop’s office and began to punch him multiple times. The brothers jumped on top of him striking him all over, according to their arrest report.

At this point, the mechanic pulled out a gun as the pair continued to lunge and punch him, cops say.

The mechanic fired three shots, hitting Gonzalez in the leg.

Despite being injured, Gonzalez managed to grab the gun and struck the mechanic on the head with it. The mechanic subsequently fled the office.

However, the mayhem wouldn’t stop there as Rodriguez-Candano tracked him down, punched him, took the gun from his brother and then pointed it at the mechanic, according to cops.

Police say the mechanic sustained a laceration to the top of his head, bruising on his arms but was not hospitalized nor arrested.

Pedro Gonzalez was treated at the hospital and later taken into custody along with his brother. Both are being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Facility as of Tuesday afternoon and face charges of aggravated assault.
