A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to a shooting that took place near a high school earlier this month, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

While at a football game at Blanche Ely High School at about 9:45 p.m. on Oct. 5, BSO Pompano Beach deputies responded to reports of a shooting near the area.

On scene, first responders found one victim, whom they have yet to name, with a non-life threatening gunshot wound and transported him to the hospital, said Claudinne Caro, spokeswoman for BSO, in Tuesday press release.

During their investigation, detectives later learned Lauderhill Fire Rescue transported Chris Williams, a second individual with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, to a local hospital.

Detectives quickly ruled out that the shooting occurred in connection to the school.

BSO noted that a Crime Stoppers tip helped them to make an arrest.

Last Friday night, investigators arrested Nicolas Yves Achille, 17, in Fort Lauderdale. He was processed at the Juvenile Assessment Center on two counts of attempted murder in the first degree.
