Hialeah police have taken over the investigation into the discovery of a man found dead inside a parked pickup truck on the side of the Palmetto Expressway on Monday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers received the call about the body shortly after noon, said Lt. Alex Camacho, a spokesman for the agency.

The Ford was parked on the shoulder of the highway, around NW 103rd Street, Camacho said in a statement.

Since the investigation is being handled by Hialeah police, Camacho would not release more details about the body.

Hialeah police did not immediately respond to questions about the case.
