An argument ends in the shooting of a 4-year-old next door, Miami-Dade police say

A Saturday night argument between two adults in West Miami-Dade ended with a 4-year-old in the house next door getting hit by a wayward gunshot, police said.

The child was hospitalized in critical, but stable condition, police said.

This happened six days after a drive-by shooting killed 3-year-old Rylo Yancy at a birthday party in a Fort Lauderdale park.

Saturday night’s dispute between two men in the 1200 block of Southwest 127th Court began around 8:45 p.m., Miami-Dade police said. One man pulled out a gun and began firing, missing the man on the other side of the argument but going into an adjacent house and hitting the child.

“Someone had a firearm and was acting reckless and could’ve cost a child’s life,” Miami-Dade Police Det. Luis Sierra told media at the scene.

Police are looking for both men, who, they say, ran away from the shooting scene. No description for either has been released.

Anyone who knows anything about this can contact Crime Stoppers of Miami-Dade & the Florida Keys either online or at 305-471-8477 (TIPS).
