A 2-year-old was injured in a suspected drive-by shooting near a Fort Lauderdale park Sunday afternoon.

At around 4:30 p.m., police responded to the 900 block of Southwest 27th Avenue, where they found the toddler. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue transported the child to Broward Health Medical Center. It’s not clear how many times the child was shot nor their condition.

The shooting occurred near the Riverland Park & Pool in the city’s Melrose Manors neighborhood. Fire rescue transmissions indicate that the child was shot in a drive-by around the park.

The investigation, police say, remains ongoing.

Anyone with information about the shooting should contact Fort Lauderdale police at 954-828-5700 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
