A woman was hospitalized after her partner stabbed her inside a house in Lauderhill following an argument Saturday night, police say..

The man, identified as 61-year-old Derrick Woodard, ran from the house after the stabbing before turning himself in to police minutes later, said Sgt. Parys Thomas, a Lauderhill Police Department spokeswoman.

Around 6:15 p.m Saturday, Thomas said police arrived at the house, located at the 5700 block of Northwest 12th Street, to find the woman suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Woodard and the victim, who has not been named, were in a relationship at the time of this incident, a preliminary investigation revealed. A verbal quarrel ensued between the two moments before the stabbing occurred, according to Thomas.

Lauderhill Fire Rescue took the woman to Broward Health Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition as of Sunday morning.

Woodard is currently held at Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail with no bond. Records show he faces premeditated murder charges.

Lauderhill police detectives are investigating.
