Man with gunshot wounds drove self to Jackson Memorial Hospital in bullet-ridden car
A man with gunshot wounds drove himself to Jackson Memorial Hospital in a car riddled with bullets early Monday morning, police say.
Although the man got to the hospital around 2:30 a.m. in a black Kia Stringer with several bullet holes, the shooting may have occurred moments earlier by Northwest 12th Avenue & 71st Street, near Miami Northwestern Senior High, Officer Kiara Delva, a police spokeswoman, told the Miami Herald.
A ShotSpotter alerted cops about shots fired near the school, three miles away from the hospital, Delva said. The shooting likely wounded the man, who has been “in and out of surgery.”
Detectives are investigating if the two incidents are connected and are checking cameras in the area, Delva said. No arrests have been made.
Footage from 7News showed a dark-colored sedan with several bullet holes on the back driver’s side door and window.
