A man fatally shot his girlfriend, her roommate, then himself near Coral Gables, cops say
A West Miami-Dade resident drove two miles to his girlfriend’s apartment, where he killed her and her roommate, then took his own life, police say.
That’s the Miami-Dade police summary of the triple tragedy Saturday night at the Windsor Ludlam Trail Apartments, 7004 SW 40th St., about a mile and a half west of Coral Gables on Bird Road.
Meghan Moore was 25. Sidney Capolino was 23. Both were graduates of New England College, where they played on the women’s ice hockey team.
Luis Napoles, Moore’s boyfriend, was 40.
Sunday, police said the early indication was that the three lived together at the Windsor Ludlam Trail, 7004 SW 40th St., a 2022-built building where a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment can rent for over $4,200 per month. But, Monday’s update stated Moore and Capolino lived in the apartment while Napoles lived in a house about 2 miles away, a half mile west of West Miami.
Police say a report of gunshots at Windsor Ludlam Trail brought officers to the building around 8:53 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, they found a woman they later identified as Moore wounded outside an apartment.
Officers tending to Moore heard a gunshot inside the apartment. After the building was evacuated, Miami-Dade police’s special response team arrived and got inside the apartment. There they found Capolino and Napoles.
The investigation has revealed that Luis Napoles arrived at the apartment complex and shot his girlfriend, Meghan Moore, outside of the residence. He then entered the apartment, where he proceeded to shoot her roommate, Sidney Capolino, before taking his own life.
