Miami-Dade cops handcuff man after SWAT throws flash bang into house. Two detained
Miami-Dade police officers detained two men Tuesday morning during separate raids on two Homestead-area homes by heavily armed tactical teams in connection with a February shooting investigation.
One of the warrants was served around 7:30 a.m. near Southwest 131st Court and 262nd Lane in the Meadow Wood Manor subdivision of Princeton.
Minutes after a flash-bang grenade was heard, the Miami Herald observed police escorting a handcuffed man from the house wearing a white T-shirt and shorts.
A woman came out of the house around the same time the man did. Police sat her down in the driveway and gave her a blanket.
According to police, the warrant was one of two served Tuesday morning related to a Feb. 17 drive-by shooting in the 11300 block of Southwest 190th Lane, where officers found a man wounded by gunfire. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported him to Jackson South Medical Center in stable condition, said Detective A.C. Colome, a police department spokesman.
The raid on the Meadow Wood Manor home and another warrant Special Response Team officers served on a house at 12934 SW 252nd Terrace, where another man was taken into custody, are connected to that shooting, Colome said.
Police did not release the names of the men Tuesday because “detectives are still working the case,” Colome said.
A neighbor, who asked not to be named, said he’s lived in Meadow Wood Manor for about 14 years. The man arrested was the adult son of the woman who owns the house, according to the neighbor, adding that he’s never seen any trouble coming from the home.
“They’re nice people, and he’s a nice guy. Just the type that doesn’t seem to do anything,” the neighbor said.
