Driver ran away after killing scooter rider in northwest Miami-Dade crash, cops say
A driver ran away after striking and killing a scooter rider in a hit-and-run crash near Brownsville on Tuesday morning, Miami-Dade police said.
Around 6 a.m., a driver going northbound on Northwest 22nd Avenue, near 54th Street, struck a person on a scooter, police spokesman Det. Angel Rodriguez told the Miami Herald. The driver ran away, leaving the car behind, and the scooter rider died at the scene, Rodriguez said.
A description of the vehicle nor the driver was immediately available, but CBS News Miami footage showed a dark-colored car with front-end damage.
Police are looking for two suspects, but have not released any information about them.
It is unknown whether the owner of the car was the person behind the wheel.
