Kodak Black’s latest legal woe: Rapper found asleep in Bentley with drugs on him, police say
South Florida rapper Kodak Black landed back in the Broward jail Thursday after police say they found the rapper asleep in a Bentley with drugs on him.
Kodak, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, faces charges of cocaine possession, evidence tampering and improperly stopping, standing or parking. He was arrested at 3 a.m. in Plantation.
An hour before, police found a black Bentley with its tail lights on parked on 600 block of NW 47th Terrace, according to a probable cause affidavit. The car was blocking part of the road.
When the officer approached the driver’s side door, the window was halfway down and a man, later identified as Kodak, was inside asleep, the affidavit said.
The officer noted smelling marijuana and seeing residue on the center console. According to police, there was also a Styrofoam cup emitting the odor of alcohol.
When Kodak stepped out of the car, the officer asked him if there was anything illegal inside, according to the affidavit. The rapper responded saying there was just some “weed.”
Some time after, the officer claimed seeing a white powder fall from “[Kodak’s] person” and believed he was “trying to discard illegal narcotics,” the affidavit states.
Kodak’s mouth was covered in white powder, and white rock-like substances were scattered on the ground, according to the affidavit. Kodak told police it was Percocet.
The “white chunky substance” tested positive for cocaine, police say. When the officer searched the rapper, they found a clear baggie with “a small amount” of the substance.
While not reflected on jail records, the affidavit also included an additional charged offense: a probation violation related to a federal case. The rapper’s $5,000 bond was posted, but he remains in jail as of 2:30 p.m.
The 26-year-old, with a criminal history spanning several states, was previously locked up in Broward last year after Florida Highway Patrol arrested him on drug possession and trafficking charges.
State troopers pulled Kodak over in Fort Lauderdale because they believed the windows of his purple Dodge Durango were “darker than the legal limit” and the SUV’s registration tag was expired. Police say they found 31 oxycodone tablets.

Back in February, Broward Circuit Court Judge Barbara Duffy ordered Kodak to stay at a rehabilitation facility for 30 days after an hours-long hearing.
“All the good deeds I do, all the good things I do, it never goes as viral,” Kodak said at the time. “I don’t know why [they] are so hungry to see me in jail.”
He’s still fighting the 2022 case in court.
This report will be updated as more information becomes available.
