A man was shot and killed in a luxury Aventura high-rise Tuesday morning, police said. Details on what happened are sparse.

Around 4:30 a.m., Aventura police officers rushed to the Turnberry On The Green condominium, 19501 W Country Club Drive, after a 911 call reported a shooting, said Sgt. Hans Maestre, an Aventura police spokesman. The luxury condo overlooks the Turnberry Isle Resort and Country Club golf course.

According to NBC 6 South Florida, the body was found lying outside the front lobby doors.

In a press release, police said, “There are currently no safety concerns in the area.”

But police did not say why they believe residents are safe — a suspect has not been publicly identified and no arrests have been made. The victim has also not been identified.

The department did not immediately respond to the Miami Herald’s request for clarification.

The department’s statement went on to say, “Aventura Detectives are currently investigating this incident and are currently following up on additional leads which were provided by witnesses...This remains a very active investigation and we are utilizing all of our resources in trying to find out who is responsible for this incident.”

Police also have not given details on what led to the shooting. In the statement and on X, formerly Twitter, the department said, “This incident is in no way connected to recent events in the middle east.”

Aventura police did not elaborate on the statement about the Middle East. A few hours before the shooting, the department warned that a bogus statement was circling on social media that Jewish communities would be attacked during Halloween by Hamas supporters.

“This warning is not based on any facts and has no merit! Just as we advise on every Halloween to be safe, watch your kids and pay attention to the roadway, we do so again,” the department’s post read.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call detectives at 305-466-8999.
