A dispute between a Coral Gables motel guest and a desk clerk ended in death, cops say

A guest at a Coral Gables motel was shot dead by the desk clerk Saturday evening, Miami-Dade police say.

Crime Stoppers of Miami-Dade & the Florida Keys identified Jimmeal Davis and put the shooting around 6 p.m. Miami-Dade police, who are handling the investigation as is normal with Coral Gables homicides, identified Davis only as “an adult male patron” staying at Gables Inn, 730 S. Dixie Hwy.

During an argument with the guest, “the clerk produced a firearm and shot the patron,” police said. “The desk clerk remained on the scene and has been cooperating with detectives.”

Coral Gables Fire Rescue took Davis to Jackson South Medical Center, where he died. He was 30. Recently, he’d lived in Coconut Grove.
