4 in custody after leading police on chase in Broward, crashing car linked to a kidnapping
Four people are in custody after detectives say they led police on a chase Thursday afternoon that ended with their car — already linked to a kindnapping — crashing into another vehicle in Ft. Lauderdale.
Just before 3:30 p.m., Fort Lauderdale police detective Ali Adamson said officers were in the 3100 block of Davie Boulevard when they tracked down a group riding in a vehicle subject to two felony investigations: one stemming from a kidnapping in Miami; the other pertaining to a vehicle theft in Plantation. Officers tried to stop them, but to no avail. A pursuit ensued.
“The vehicle ultimately crashed into another vehicle in the area of Southwest Third Street and Southwest 27th Terrace and four occupants bailed out of the car,” Adamson said.
But they didn’t get far, police noted. All four suspects were detained as of Thursday night.
They were taken to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle they crashed into was also taken to the same hospital, but their condition is unknown.
This report will be updated as more information becomes available.
