WEDNESDAY MORNING UPDATE: Ferris Phillips was arrested in Fort Lauderdale for the shooting of Nader Aweidah.

Police are looking for suspects in the fatal shooting of a man at a Liberty City auto body shop Tuesday morning.

Miami police say 46-year-old Nader Aweidah, 46 was shot around 11 a.m. at 7455 NW Seventh Ave., the address for Perfect Auto Paint & Body Shop and Perfect Motor Sports. State records say Aweidah runs Perfect Auto Body, which was first registered with the state in 1989.

“Bubba,” as he was known, owned the auto body shop, a nearby grocery store, and was a father of six, friends of Aweidah told NBC Miami.

“He was just a great man, he looked out for the community. He did whatever he could for people,” one friend told the TV station. “He was a loving father, a great business owner, and it’s just a sad story.”

Miami officer Kiara Delva told reporters near the crime scene that “from our understanding the victim was a known and respected individual in the community.”

“It’s another senseless shooting,” she said. “That has to stop.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Miami Police Department’s Homicide Unit at (305) 603-6350. Those with information that wish to remain anonymous can contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers online or at (305) 471- TIPS (4877).
