Retired mixed martial arts fighter Jorge Masvidal Jr.’s home was the scene of a shooting Thursday afternoon, police said. A man was shot, but authorities say Masvidal was not involved.

Jorge Masvidal Fernandez, 67, is facing a charge of attempted second-degree murder.

Just before 3 p.m., Miami-Dade Police Officer Alfredo Perez was flagged down by a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue ambulance that was taking Luis Leoncini to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital after he was shot in both arms, police said.

His condition was not clear Friday.

Leoncini told the officer Masvidal Fernandez shot him in a home at 5851 SW 118th Ave. Police said Masvidal Jr. is listed as the owner.

Officers went to the home to arrest Masvidal Fernandez and found a .38 caliber revolver inside a kitchen cabinet.

Family members told police the two men are acquaintances and share family ties. However, Masvidal Jr. was not there during the shooting, police said.

This is a developing story.
