Shooting at major road west of Fort Lauderdale injured woman, shut down street

A shooting on a busy Broward road has left a woman injured and roads closed Wednesday, deputies said. The gunman is still on the loose.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m., the Broward Sheriff’s Office got a call of a shooting near the 3400 block of North State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes, officials said. Deputies found a driver suffering from a gunshot wound and transported her to a hospital.

Investigators learned another motorist in a black sedan shot at her while she was in her car. He drove off north on North State Road 7, deputies said.

The north- and southbound lanes of North state Road 7 between the 4100 and 3800 blocks were shutdown, but as of 8 p.m. all lanes were reopened.
