One person died after being shot Wednesday night outside Midtown Miami’s Lagniappe, police say.

When Miami police answered a 10:13 p.m. call about a shooting in the 3400 block of Northeast Second Avenue, a block occupied by Lagniappe and a fitness center, they found North Miami-Dade’s Markniah Joseph in the street. Miami Fire Rescue took Joseph to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Joseph died Thursday morning. He was 35 years old.

In an email to the Miami Herald, Lagniappe’s attorney, Claire Menard-Hillis, said the shooting, “did not involve patrons or employees of Lagniappe.”

This developing story will be updated.
