Two people hit by sedan on Miami Beach a few blocks apart. Search is on for the driver
Two people were hit and injured by the same vehicle Thursday on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach — causing police to partially shut down some streets during rush hour.
By 6 p.m., police hadn’t released specifics on the vehicle they think was involved, only saying it’s believed to be a black, four-door sedan with tinted windows.
According to Miami Beach Police Spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez, the apparent hit-and-runs happened at about 3:45 p.m. — the first at Collins Avenue and 44th Street, the second shortly after on Collins and 57th Street.
An unidentified man was hit in the 57th Street collision and is in critical condition, Rodriguez said. An unidentified woman was injured in the 44th Street crash but is in stable condition.
The north lane of Collins Avenue between 56th and 58th streets remained closed into the early evening as did the north lane on 44th Street and Collins.
Detectives are actively following several leads, Rodriguez said.
