A toddler was hospitalized Wednesday after a driver crashed into the victim and fled the scene, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Around 12:11 p.m., BSO said deputies rushed to the 900 block of Siesta Key Boulevard in Deerfield Beach in response to a hit-and-run. There they found the child who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, the toddler was playing in a parking lot and ran into oncoming traffic just before the crash.

Authorities didn’t release additional information.
