Miami grandmother, ‘Miss Liz,’ killed in front of her home of over 50 years, cops say
The Miami octogenarian shot dead Friday night was in front of her Liberty City home — a 97-year-old house she’d lived in for more than half a century, property records say.
And police want to know who ended the life of 85-year-old grandmother Elizabeth Level, “Miss Liz,” with a series of gunshots around 6:30 p.m. Friday night. Level was taken from 1015 NW 52nd St. in Liberty City to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she died.
Level was a pillar in the community, granddaughters Jacara Level and Griselda Bee told Miami Herald’s news partner CBS Miami.
“She’s everybody’s grandma Liz in the community, everyone loves grandma Liz,” Griselda Bee noted to CBS Miami.
And through the pain, they’re now seeking justice for their slain grandmother.
“Sitting out as a family and people come through shooting, my grandma couldn’t run,” Bee told CBS Miami. “She’s in her wheelchair.”
