Shooting on U.S. 1 in Miami sends 5 people to Jackson hospital, police say

Five people were shot early Sunday morning, the shots being fired from one car into a gold 2005 Nissan Altima heading north on U.S. 1 near the Southwest 22nd Avenue intersection, Miami police said.

The Nissan driver dropped off one person, a teenager, at Southwest Third Street and Fourth Avenue, then proceeded to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The young woman who had been dropped off called 911 from there then was taken to Ryder Trauma.

Officer Kenia Fellat said in an email that the five people shot all are in stable condition. Police don’t know the make or model of the shooter’s car or the motive behind the shooting.
