Four adults arrested after trespassing at Miami Central High, school district says
One man and three women were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after they trespassed onto the campus of Miami Central Senior High School to fight students, the school district said.
Several administrators, staff members and security monitors tried to stop the brawl as the school was placed on lockdown, according to Miami-Dade Schools Police Department.
Laquayle Peak, 18; David Peak, 22, and Tranesha Housen, 23, are facing charges of trespassing on school grounds, court records show. The Peaks are also facing charges of disrupting an educational institution and a felony of burglary, assault or battery. An arrest affidavit for Heaven Carter, listed as a co-defendant in the affidavit of Laquayle Peak, was not immediately released by police.
County records show David Peak remained in jail as of Wednesday night. A judge ordered the Peaks to stay away from the school and the students, court records show.
The adults do not attend the school located at 1781 NW 95th St. and no weapons were used in the incident, Miami-Dade County Public Schools spokesperson Elmo Lugo said Tuesday.
Published by Univision Miami, cellphone video of the incident shows people fighting each other with fists and kicks, and others trying to stop the altercation.
According to police, students called the adults to the school following an earlier heated argument with other schoolmates. When the adults arrived, cops say they were denied entry by security but somehow were able to confront the students at noon — first outside the entrance and then inside school.
Laquayle Peak, David Peak and Carter attacked three female students and one male student while they were walking to lunch, according to their arrest reports. During the fight, they were seen punching the students with closed fists, cops say, adding that Housen was spotted “acting erratically and screaming at students.”
“The defendants entered the Miami Central SHS with the intent to fight and had no valid reason to be there,” cops said in the Peaks’ arrest affidavits.
Laquayle Peak’s next court hearing is scheduled for May 5. Court dates for the other adults were not yet publicly available.
