Police: Fake cops tie up couple, steal minivan in Miami-Dade

A man driving his van on Southwest Eighth Street at 87th Avenue was pulled over early Monday morning by two men pretending to be cops.

According to Miami-Dade police, the men pulled over a man driving a white van after placing police lights on the roof of their car and ordering the van to the side of the road. Then, the real police said, the men got into the van and pointed guns at the driver, ordering him out of his seat.

After tying the driver up, one of the men took the wheel, police said, and drove to the victim’s home in the 600 block of Southwest 123rd Court.

When they entered the home, police said, they found their hostage’s girlfriend, who they also tied up. The men, whose descriptions weren’t given, then stole the couple’s silver 2012 Town & Country minivan.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
