A tip leads to arrest on Miami murder warrant

A Homestead man wanted on murder charges has been arrested following a tip to the Monroe County Sheriff’s office.

Steve Singleton, 33, was arrested Friday night in Tavernier. At the time of his arrest, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s office, he had a Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun in a backpack. The weapon had been stole in April of 2013 from Miramar.

Singleton, who is a convicted felon, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and with the warrant for second degree murder from Miami-Dade County.
