A woman has turned herself in to police Friday after being accused of shoplifing and fraud to the tune of $53,000.

Aventura police say that multiple returns to a debit card alerted investigators to Nathilia Hooks’ scheme. She would shoplift items from Victoria's Secret, return the items and pocket the proceeds.

A warrant was issued Sept. 24 on charges of organized fraud and money laundering. Additional shoplifting charges were added by Bal Harbour and Palm Beach Police.

The scheme dated back to 2013 and occurred at stores in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Orange counties.
