One man dead after shooting in a West Miami-Dade Walmart, police say

MONDAY UPDATE: Miami-Dade police released the identity of the victim, 36-year-old Matthew Brown. The shooter was not identified.

One man was shot dead Saturday morning inside a West Miami-Dade Walmart, Miami-Dade police say.

The shopping plaza at 8400 Coral Way, with a Walmart at the east end and a Publix at the west end, had crime scene tape around it Saturday and police units pulled up to Walmart entrances.

Police say an argument betwen two men — police released neither man’s name or age — escalated to a shooting inside the store around 9:43 a.m. The shooter was detained by police.

This is a developing story and is being updated as more is learned.
