Streets shut down as Miami police investigate fatal hit and run, cops say

Miami police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that took place Tuesday night, shutting down some roads in the northeast section of the city.

Just after 8 p.m., Miami police tweeted they were investigating the hit-and-run crash at Northeast Seventh Avenue and 79th Street. Police shut down the east and westbound lanes of 79th Street, telling residents to stay away as the investigation continues.

Police do not have many details yet, but are looking into whether a truck was involved in the crash. The condition and identity of the pedestrian has not been released.
