Lawyer of woman who may be tied to Bal Harbour hit-and-run that killed teen contacts cops
The search is over for a woman police say may be connected to the hit-and-run crash that killed a 14-year-old bicyclist in Bal Harbour Saturday night.
On Monday evening, police said an attorney representing Luisa Fernanda Ahearn, 24, has “made contact with” investigators and they “are no longer searching for her.”
Ahearn is believed to be “one of the subjects involved” in the crash that happened just after 6 p.m. in the 10200 block of Collins Avenue, according to Miami-Dade police. The area is about a minute away from the Bal Harbour Yacht Club marina and a few minutes away from Bal Harbour Shops.
Police say Ethan Gordon, 14, was crossing Collins Avenue at the 10200 block on his bicycle when he was hit by a 2018 silver KIA Optima that was traveling northbound on Collins Avenue.
The driver didn’t stop to help and kept going north on Collins Avenue before turning west on 163rd Street, police said.
As for the teenager, he died at the hospital from his injuries, according to police.
Police say the 2018 silver KIA Optima, with Florida tag IYY-I58, should have right front-end and windshield damage. Police said Monday night they had not yet found the car.
The name of Ahearn’s attorney has not yet been released.
