A teen boy reported being knocked out and sexually assaulted Monday night in Bass Park, Fort Lauderdale police say.

And they’re looking for a man the boy remembers talking to before being knocked out.

According to police, the boy said he was playing basketball at the park, 2750 NW 19th St., around 11 p.m. when he had a quick chat with a stranger. The stranger hung around the park while the boy kept playing.

The boy doesn’t know who knocked him unconscious with a hit to the head. He told police he woke up hours later to discover he’d been violated.

Police are looking for the stranger with whom the boy spoke. Though they say he’s “not a suspect, but, rather, someone detectives believe may have information on the incident,” his face is on a flier offering $3,000 from Broward Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the sexual assault.

The man is described as Black, bearded, around 6 feet tall, 210 pounds and appears to be 35 to 40 years old. Anyone with information can call Fort Lauderdale Police Department or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or go to the Broward Crime Stoppers website.
