Man linked to a murder is now in custody after chase through Broward County, reports say

A man who authorities believe is linked to a murder was taken into custody in Deerfield Beach late Wednesday following a police chase that unfolded across Broward County.

Police spotted the man inside a white BMW near the Galleria Mall, 2414 E Sunrise Blvd, in Fort Lauderdale.

When they tried to stop him, he took off, starting a chase that went onto Interstate 95 and ended about 20 miles away in the area of Martin Luther King Avenue and Southwest Fifth Court in Deerfield Beach, according to Local 10.

He was wanted for a connection to a homicide, the station reported.

When the white BMW stopped, three people took off running, according to WSVN. The man and a woman were later taken into custody although the third person escaped and is still at large, the station reported.

Video taken by Local 10 shows Broward County Sherriff Office and Fort Lauderdale police cruisers crowding the neighborhood street, the handcuffed man being led inside a cruiser. His white BMW was later towed.

Police have not released the man’s identity or any information on the murder he is connected to.

The Broward County Sherriff’s Office and Fort Lauderdale police did not immediately respond to the Miami Herald’s inquiry on the homicide.

This article will be updated once more information becomes available.
