He tries to exit grocery with stolen goods. Worker intervenes and man pulls knife, cops say.

A man walked out of a South Miami-Dade grocery store with several items he didn’t pay for, according to Miami-Dade police.

When an employee tried to stop him from leaving, the man pointed a folding knife and left, police said.

On Tuesday, police released video of the May 13 incident in hopes of identifying the man.

The incident, which is being investigated as an armed robbery, happened at about 11 a.m. at the Fresco Y Mas, 27359 South Dixie Hwy.

The video shows an employee standing at the front door trying to block a man from leaving. The man, who was wearing a face mask and had a black backpack, was carrying what appeared to be a loaf of bread and tried to get around the employee to leave.

Police did not say how many items were in the backpack or what the value of the items taken was.

The man who police say was between 20 and 25 years old then took off on a bicycle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
