One person shot him in the leg. Another shot him in the head. Can video help solve the crime?

It wasn’t the shot to Jamar Mousakheel’s leg that killed him.

It was a second shot, to his head, by a different person that would prove fatal.

But Fort Lauderdale police say they have the man responsible for delivering the fatal shot.

On Monday, they released video to help them identify who took the first shot at the 31-year-old.

The incident happened just after 11 p.m. June 2 in a parking lot behind Voodoo Beach Ink at 231 Almond Ave.

Video shows a car backing into a mostly empty lot and a man getting out. Mousakheel can be seen walking toward the man.

Police say the men began fighting.

“The first suspect retrieves a firearm from his vehicle, shoots the victim in the leg, and then leaves the area in a light colored vehicle,” police said in a news release.

Mousakheel then sat down in the parking lot. Another man approached him and shot him one time in the head before running away, according to police. Mousakheel was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died.

Police say they have identified the second shooter as 43-year-old Gerald Gotcher, of Fort Lauderdale. He was arrested Friday on a murder charge, police say.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. J. Jaggers at 954-828-5970, Det. Sgt. S. Novak at 954-828-5556 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
