Police searching for shooter who killed 23-year-old at Pembroke Pines condominium

A 23-year-old woman was shot and killed in what might have been a “targeted” attack in the parking lot of her Pembroke Pines condominium early Thursday, police say.

The shooting happened at about 6:15 a.m. within the Cove at French Villas private condominiums at Northwest 79th Avenue and Sixth Street, according to Pembroke Pines police. The condos are near Broward College’s South Campus and North Perry Airport.

She was in her car and was about to leave for work when someone came up to her and began shooting, Local 10 reports.

Miami Herald news partner CBS4 recorded a black car with multiple bullet holes in the parking lot of the condominium. Police say the woman, who lived in the community, was shot several times and died from her injuries.

Her identity will not be disclosed until her family is notified.

“We have no suspect information at this time, but based upon the circumstances of the incident it appears as though the victim was targeted,” Pembroke Pines police said. “We do not believe at this time that the general public is in danger.”

Police blocked off access to the condominium for about two hours for their initial investigation. It re-opened at 9 a.m.

Anyone with information on the shooting or the shooter’s identity is asked to call police.
