Police bomb squad gives ‘all-clear’ on possible live grenade in a trash can

UPDATE: Miami-Dade police’s bomb squad has given the “all clear” and the area is safe. The possible grenade is now said to have been in a trash can near a gas station.

Miami-Dade police are investigating a report of a grenade in a shopping cart in Northwest Miami-Dade Thursday afternoon.

At around 5:15 p.m., police got an anonymous call that there was a live grenade in a shopping cart near Northwest 32nd Avenue and Northwest 652nd Street, police said.

A bomb squad is being sent in as a precaution and the area has been closed off.

Two gas stations and a Dollar General are on the same street as the shopping cart. Police said they have not conducted any evacuations at the moment.
