This baby’s mother and two others were murdered. The reward to find him just went up
Andrew Caballeiro was just 1 week old when police say his father shot dead his mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Jan. 28 inside a house located in the western Miami-Dade County agricultural community known as Redland.
His father, Ernesto Caballeiro, 49, kidnapped the baby from the house at 21941 SW 187th Ave. after shooting the women, police said.
The elder Caballeiro’s body was found the next day in a wooded area just north of Tampa in Pasco County with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police believe he used the same rifle to kill himself as he used to slay the women.
Pasco County Sheriff’s Office deputies who found the body said there was no trace of baby Andrew in or around Caballeiro’s van, parked about 50 yards from his body. But they did find a pacifier inside the vehicle.
Police, as well as the FBI, have been looking for the infant ever since.
On Wednesday, Crime Stoppers, with assistance from the Florida Sheriff’s Association, upped the reward for information leading to his whereabouts to $8,000.
Police are asking anyone with information about Andrew to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-8477 (471-TIPS). Tips can also be submitted online at www.crimestoppers305.com by selecting “Submit a tip.” There is also a Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/crimestoppers305.
