One dead and one wounded in home invasion shootings, Lauderhill police say
One man is dead and another was shot in the leg after what appears to be an early Tuesday home invasion, Lauderhill police say.
The identity of the man found inside a three-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium at 5209 NW 18th St. hasn’t been released. Relatives still need to be notified.
Lauderhill police Lt. Mike Santiago said an officer heard gunshots around 1800 NW 55th Ave. around 1:47 a.m. While circling the area to search for the source, other calls came in to police of gunshots around 5200 NW 18th St. As officers responded to that, a third call came in from a man saying he’d been shot.
That man flagged officers down at the gated entrance to the complex. He said people came into Apt. 2, started asking “Where’s the stuff at?” and the shooting started soon after.
Santiago said officers couldn’t make contact with anyone inside the condo, but found an unlocked front door. When they pushed it open, they found the body of an adult male with gunshot wounds.
The man who had been shot in the leg has been released from Broward Health.
