Two men were detained for questioning after Miami-Dade police say they pulled up alongside officers who were responding to a domestic dispute and began firing at them. The suspects then drove off.
Police say they were calledto a domestic dispute in the Pinewood area along Northwest 96th Street and Ninth Avenue late Thursday afternoon. They had taken a person into custody when they began to hear gunshots in the area.
A car then drove toward them and a gunman who was “hanging out” of the car began shooting at the officers, Miami-Dade police Detective Christopher Thomas told Local 10. Police say one of the officers shot back.
The two men in the car sped off and later crashed in front of an apartment complex along Northwest 96th Street, according to police. They then ran into the complex, trying to evade police.
Officers created a perimeter in the area and say the men, who are 20 and 23-years-old, surrendered shortly after and were detained for questioning. Officials say no one was hurt during the incident.
