He was reportedly defending his 7-year-old step-grandaughter. Then he was shot and killed

A man was shot and killed at a Fort Lauderdale home after family members say he began arguing with the father of his 7-year-old step-granddaughter.

The shooting happened at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday along Southwest 13th Street and 31st Avenue, near Davie Boulevard, and is “possibly domestic related,” according to Fort Lauderdale police.

Police have not released additional details about the shooting.

Family members, who identified the man as Raul Santos, told Local 10 he was shot several times by his stepdaughter’s boyfriend after an argument over the couple’s 7-year-old daughter.

A police spokesman said the death is under investigation and that they do not have anyone in custody as of Monday morning.

Police have not disclosed the identity of the boyfriend or said if they are looking for him.
