‘Why did you shoot him!’ Man arrested in deadly Boynton Beach shooting, cops say
A shooting left a man dead in the parking lot of a Boynton Beach mini market on Thursday morning.
Around 10:40 a.m., police said they were investigating reports of a shooting at Cherry Hill Mini Market, 1213 NW Fourth St. When officers arrived they found a man dead in the market’s parking lot, the Boynton Beach police said.
Police did not release the victim’s name.
The victim’s girlfriend told police that she was awakened by three gunshots. She ran outside and saw Antwon Bryant, 27, standing in the road close to her boyfriend’s body. She had known Bryant for about a year.
As Bryant ran away, the victim’s girlfriend yelled after him, “Why did you shoot him?!”
As officers searched for Bryant, several places, including the Carolyn Sims recreation center, the city’s Denson Pool and Poinciana Elementary School, were put on lockdown.
About an hour later, Bryant was found and arrested, and the lockdowns were lifted.
Bryant is being charged with first degree murder with a firearm. He was not given a bond and remains in a Palm Beach County jail.
