Warrant issued for Antonio Brown after incident at his Hollywood home, cops say
Former NFL star Antonio Brown is wanted on charges of burglary with battery, burglary of an unoccupied conveyance and criminal mischief after an incident at his home Tuesday, Hollywood police said late Wednesday.
The department said a warrant was issued for Brown’s arrest, but the 31-year-old was not in custody.
Tuesday, a victim, reported to be the driver of a moving van outside Brown’s home by WSVN, claimed he got battered by Brown and Brown’s trainer, Glenn Holt. Holt was arrested Tuesday on a charge of burglary with battery and posted bond Wednesday.
“This is a serious charge but these allegations are way overblown,” Holt’s attorney Eric Rudenberg told Miami Herald news partner CBS4. “The charge of burglary with a battery carries a punishment of up to life in prison, but this incident, the allegations are extremely minor, it’s something about tussling over keys to a truck. This is not the kind of thing you’d expect people to go to prison for at all, let alone, punishable by life.”
Police said Wednesday that “officers attempted to make contact with Mr. Brown, but were unsuccessful.”
Tuesday’s visit was the second time in eight days that police showed up at Brown’s home. On Jan. 13, Brown waved penis-shaped gummy candies at police after they responded about a disagreement he had with ex-girlfriend Chelsie Kyriss.
After a 2019 off-season trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Oakland Raiders, Brown, who graduated from Miami Norland High, was released before the regular season. He was picked up by the New England Patriots, but a lawsuit from a former trainer alleging sexual assault eventually prompted New England to jettison Brown.
