1 injured in hit and run crash involving 18-wheeler in Liberty City. Teen driver arrested

A 16-year-old girl was arrested Friday after police say she was involved in a hit-and-run accident that left another car partially underneath an 18-wheeler in Liberty City.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. along Northwest 41st Street and 22nd Avenue, according to Miami-Dade police.

Video taken by multiple news stations show Miami-Dade Fire Rescue using the Jaws of Life to rescue the man from his wrangled car, which was partially trapped underneath a tractor trailer.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

An SUV with front-end damage was also found near the crash, Local 10 reports.

The teen was later found and arrested about a mile away from the accident, according to police. The Miami Herald is not releasing her name because she is a minor.

Additional details about the accident were not immediately available.

She is being charged for leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injuries, according to police.

Miami Police is assisting Miami-Dade police with the investigation.
