Man charged with murder in Thanksgiving morning shooting at Palm Beach County strip club
A Boynton Beach man is behind bars on a murder charge, and deputies say he’s behind the Thanksgiving shooting at a Palm Beach County strip club that left one dead and two injured, according to multiple reports.
Jail records show Antoine Newton, 37, was booked into Palm Beach County’s Main Detention Center Thursday afternoon on first-degree murder and aggravated battery charges. A Palm Beach County circuit judge ordered that Newton be held without bail Friday morning, according to court documents.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at The Rose Gentlemen’s Club at 4458 Purdy Lane in Palm Springs, outside West Palm Beach, just after 3 a.m. on Thursday, where they discovered three men with gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced one dead at the scene and took the other two to a local hospital. The identities of the three men have not been publicly released.
A search of Palm Beach court records yielded two prior convictions for Newton. He was found guilty of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in 2012 and burglary in 2009.
The club, which changed its name from Flashdance to Rose’s in 2018, has been the site of numerous shootings, according to the Palm Beach Post.
In 2016, a 20-year-old was shot and killed in the parking lot. In 2013, a shooting left two men injured. And, in 2005, a club manager shot at two robbers.
