Miami-Dade school employee arrested for inappropriately touching student, police say
A Miami-Dade school paraprofessional was arrested after police say he inappropriately touched an elementary school student.
Brian Holt, 38, of Miramar was arrested and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Tuesday afternoon. He is facing charges of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under 12 years old.
The incident happened Oct. 23 at Brentwood Elementary, 3101 NW 191st St. in Miami Gardens, according to police.
The victim told investigators Holt moved his hand under the table and began to “wiggle his hand” over her clothed private area during class, according to the arrest affidavit.
Holt, who was previously a school activity leader, has been with the district for 13 years, according to Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
“Miami-Dade County Public Schools is deeply disturbed by the charge that has been filed against this individual. Conduct such as the one he is accused of will not be tolerated,” Daisy Gonzalez-Diego, chief communications officer for the district, said in an e-mail.
“As soon as the allegation surfaced, the employee was immediately removed from the school setting and Miami-Dade Schools Police launched an investigation,” she said. “The district has initiated employment termination proceedings, and will ensure the individual is prevented from seeking future employment with this District.”
Holt is being held without bond.
