Trooper ‘forced’ to fatally shoot driver during traffic stop near transit hub, FHP said

A driver was killed Tuesday night after a trooper was “forced” to open fire during a traffic stop near a north Miami-Dade transit hub, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. at the entrance of the Golden Glades Park & Ride at 16000 NW Seventh Ave.

FHP said the trooper was not injured. It did not identify the driver.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating what led to the shooting.
