Weston high school ‘code yellow’ lifted after caller threatened campus shooting

UPDATE: Cypress Bay says “no threat is imminent” and students are being released.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching Cypress Bay High in Weston after a caller threatened to “shoot up” the campus.

The high school, located at 18600 Vista Park Blvd, is on a “code yellow” and traffic has been paused around the campus, said BSO Spokesperson Gina Carter. Nearby Falcon Cove Middle School is also on code yellow.

On Twitter, the City of Weston urged parents not to come to the school to pick up their kids. Parents are asked to come to Library Park, although students cannot leave the school and adults cannot enter the school.

The city tweeted that BSO’s threat assessment unit said “it is too soon to determine if it is indeed a prank or swatting call.”

This is a breaking news story and will be updated with more information.
