Four Brownsville Middle School students were charged Wednesday with having a loaded gun on campus, according to police.
Miami Dade schools police were on their way to the school to conduct a random search when students reported there were guns on campus, said Lt. Raul Correa.
“We really gotta give props to the kids who came forward,” Correa said.
Two guns were confiscated and police arrested every student who held the weapons at any point while on school grounds, he said. The school in central Dade was on lock down for about four hours as police swept through the school, using dogs to find the firearms.
