Miami-Dade police

The Miami-Dade Police Department is looking for a man who detectives say sexually assaulted a tourist inside her hotel room at the Clarion Inn and Suites in Miami Springs.

According to police, the 33-year-old woman was in her room at the hotel, 5301 NW 36th St., at about noon Monday when she heard a knock at the door.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim is not a local resident and the subject was not a guest at the hotel,” police said in a news release.

The man, armed with an orange box-cutter, forced his way inside and assaulted her.

Hotel cameras captured images of the man who was wearing a multicolored T-shirt, faded jeans and white tennis shoes. He was described by police as being 20 to 24 years old, 5 feet, 3 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a thin build, mustache, beard and Afro.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
